Lovely vintage buttercream hued majolica plate with a coastal / nautical theme. The piece is divided into 4 sections each with a hand painted shoreline subject (lighthouse, surrounded by a raised floral majolica rim. Pairs of holes at top and bottom allow easy hanging. From the design of this piece and the unidentified mark on underside "Hand Painted Japan" encircling a dogwood (?) blossom., we believe it to be 1921-1940's but cannot verify that.
Very good condition, appropriate for age and previous enjoyment. Overall crazing; chip on underside which is not visible when in use., glaze fabrication flaws typical of an artisan made piece, small chip on inside of one raised divider.
Free local pickup; otherwise shipped via economical UPS ground.
