Ceramic "The Mother" after Italian Sculptor Raffaele Monti 1871 art work Pedestal Sculpture. A veiled mother cuddling her child beneath a diaphanous veil.
Raffaele Monti was a sculptor, author and poet. One of Monti’s specialties was being able to give the illusion of transparent fabric in solid marble. This piece was made following the great success of the well-known Veiled Bride. It shows again the skill that Monti had in portraying the effect of veiled figures.
It is in great vintage condition.
