Description: Offered is a cast bronze vase, features two handles, decorated with a band of taotie masks over shields six shields, four character foundry mark at base center.
Measures: 5.5 D x 7.25 H inches.
Japanese Champleve and Cloisonne: The Japanese also produced large quantities from the mid-19th century, of very high technical quality.[33] During the Meiji era, Japanese cloisonné enamel reached a technical peak, producing items more advanced than any that had existed before.[34] The period from 1890 to 1910 was known as the "Golden age" of Japanese enamels.
Champlevé defined: In the decorative arts, an enameling technique or an object made by the champlevé process, which consists of cutting away troughs or cells in a metal plate and filling the depressions with pulverized vitreous enamel. The raised metal lines between the cutout areas form the design outline.
