Painting of porcelain bowl attributed to John Rose. c. 1815. This is a stunning piece that came from a distinguished antique store in Charleston, South Carolina. This is a rare and beautiful piece of history a vintage treasure to be sure.
The Coalport porcelain manufactory, the first porcelain factory in the Ironbridge Gorge, England, was founded by the practical and enterprising John Rose in 1795.
The Coalport porcelain manufactory was a market leading pottery throughout the 1800s, it produced a staggering range of porcelain products of all shapes and types. Seemingly Coalport was named Coalport because of the coal that was transferred from canal boats to river vessels in the Coalbrook Dale area.
