This terra cotta foo has finlike paws, and in a traditional composition, a puppy is found beneath a raised front paw. Sculptures such as this were made as architectural ornaments, and a foo dog was an auspicious presence. Probably early to mid 20th century. Very rustic style of hand made pottery, with many irregularities. Some chipping around the base, mostly very small, and with hard to spot restoration to paw with the puppy.
