Rue du Faubourg-du-Temple is a street in the 10th and 11th arrondissements of Paris, France.
It begins at Place de la République and goes up to Boulevard de la Villette. It is a border road between two arrondissements, its even side being on the 11th arrondissement side and its odd side (on the left) on the 10th.
The rue du Faubourg-du-Temple owes its name to the fact that it used to cross the hamlet located outside the Porte du Temple of the surrounding wall which served the order of the Templars, and that it was traced in the extension of rue du Temple. The suburb was originally a "fors le bourg" district (from the Latin "foris" (outside) and from the Latin "borc", (bourg)). The word was changed to "forbours" after 1260.
