Mid-century Modern Flygsfors Coquille Glass Object Designed by Paul Kedelv - 1958
Coquille glass object designed by Paul Kedelv and manufactured by Flygsfors Glassworks in Sweden in 1958.
In 1949, Paul Kedelv joined Flygsfors and during his time there, he created the most popular and recognizable ranges of art glass ever manufactured at the company. In 1952, he designed the Coquille (which means shell in Swedish) range of art glass. This range or art glass was distinguished by its organic forms with cased layers of transparent and opaque colored glass and was inspired by seashells. The Coquille range became Flygsfors’ most popular and world renown line of glass and was produced into the early 1960s.
This is a wonderful and well-preserved piece in excellent condition. No cracks, nicks or stains are visible. Inscribed on the base: Flygsfors – 1958, Coquille.
