Description: Oblong radiating cluster of translucent reddish-brown aragonite crystals. The reddish brown color is due to limonite impurities in the aragonite. The specimen rests on a cultured marble stand, features brass supports and a beveled edge.

About the specimen: Aragonite occurs in a layer of red clay of Permian to Triassic age. Most large Aragonite crystals are twinned growths of three individual crystals that form pseudohexagonal trillings. Although Aragonite crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, most prismatic crystals are hexagonally shaped due to the twinning.
