These whimsical petite cuties, given to me as a gift, have been used as garnish plates when entertaining (i.e. sliced lemons, limes, etc.) but can be used as decorative accents, trinket trays or whatever your imagination can conjure up. Handcrafted and hand painted porcelain with a highly glazed finish is rich in personality and color. Deep royal blue reflects multi-colored fluttering butterflies beautifully; plate edges are gold gilt trim. Each measures 5” x ½” D/H; weight for the entire set is 1 lb. 6 oz.; Made in Japan in the mid 1960s. Makers side-to-side hallmark is the one used around this time period (top down mark is from the 1970s). In excellent condition with minimal use wear. To keep them looking fabulous, hand wash. For a collector of mid-century Japanese porcelain, these cuties should be a must have or a perfect gift for someone who is.
