The Catch is an original artwork, gouache, tempera and watercolor realized by Celestin Deshayes (1817 -1896) . Hand signed on the lower right. Is not dated but we can attribute the period mid-19th Century. Passpartout cm 50x70 The artist presents an interior of a tavern. The figures are amazed at the entrance of the soldiers who arrest a man. Good conditions except for signs of paper tears on the margins. Celestin Deshayes (1817 - 1896) was active in France. Celestin Deshayes is known as a landscape painter, lithographer, engraver, designer and illustrator. He was born on January 8, 1817in Saint-Malo, he is a pupil of Galetti. He lived in Paris in 1884 and did much of his work in the forest of Fontainebleau. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
