Mary Faulconer's depiction of a potted strawberry plant covering a newspaper and sitting on a triangular patterned red-and-white table cloth is indicative of the artist's frequent portrayals of everyday objects. With some small strawberries growing, the plant has several flowers that have yet to turn into fruit. Crumpled beside and underneath the plant, a newspaper references the Marriage of Figaro operetta in its headline.
