Rendered in hues of red, green, and brown, Mary Faulconer's depiction of a tin full of fern fronds is indicative of the artist's attention to detail and inspiration drawn from American Primitivism. Labelled as Eagle Pencils, the dark green tin that holds the fronds rests on top of red, gold, and green patterned tablecloth. The scene is altogether evocative of autumn, with its emphasis on red, gold, and green.
