Wonderful Acoma Pueblo pottery seed pot / jar by the award winning and renowned Acoma Pueblo potter Yolanda Trujillo, hand coiled from Native clay and hand painted using red, black and cream slip. Yolanda learned to make pottery at the age of eight watching her mother Becky Pasquale and her grandmother. Seed pot is footed to create a lean which allows it to showcase the beautiful design. Measures 4" across x 3" tall, signed Yolanda Trujillo Acoma N.M. (New Mexico). Many close up high resolution photos provided of every angle possible for your review.
A large Acoma style Pueblo pottery seed pot. Signed on the underside by Yolanda Trujillo. A seed pot was used by Native Americans to store seeds over the winter to plant the following year. The small opening protected the seeds from pests and spillage. The size of this seed pot is extraordinarily large for this form. The Acoma Pueblo, known for their generational potting talent, is in western New Mexico and is regarded the oldest continuously inhabited community in the United States
Beautiful Native American Seed Pot by New Mexico Acoma Pueblo artist Yolanda Trujillo. Has traditional Acoma-style graphics in tones of black and burnt sienna on a cream background. In a flattened sphere shape with a 1/4" round hole in top. In excellent condition!
Local clay was collected by the potter, hand coiled and shaped, slipped and decorated with geometric designs, then fired to make this pot.
