This incense burner was given to my grandfather by an employee of his that immigrated from China. This gentleman lived in San Francisco.
This was sometime in the 1940’s
It’s a great piece both artistically and functionally. The colors are more sublime that many cloisonné pieces of the era. It’s definitely from the 1800’s because of the story behind it’s arrival to San Francisco.
A foo dog in bronze serves as it’s top handle, and there are two bronze side handles and it is three footed with even spacing of the feet.
These were known to be used at Buddhist temples for burning incense.
