The Arrest of Giorgio Morandi is an original Drawing in watercolor and ink on paper realized by Mino Maccari in 1943. Hand-signed on the lower. Good conditions. On 23 May 1943 the painter Giorgio Morandi, a frequent visitor to the arrested Giancarlo Cavalli, Cesare Gnudi, Francesco Arcangeli, was imprisoned in San Giovanni in Monte. His home in via Fondazza is thoroughly searched. The artist was released after a week through the intercession of Roberto Longhi and the same Mino Maccari, who here represented the scene. Mino Maccari (1898-1989) was an Italian writer, painter, engraver and journalist, winner the Feltrinelli Prize for painting on 1963. For his pictorial work rich in evident chromatic accentuations and quick brushstrokes, the violent drawing combined with the living line of the graphic sign of his engravings, is recognized by the complete artist critic. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
