This really is a Great Looking - Very Unique Antique Architectural Fragment. LARGE SIZE!. Circa Mid to Late 19th Century. This Very Heavy!!! Cast Iron Pediment Section Appears to have Been Removed from The Top Rail of a Very Tall - Large Scale Fence at a Prominent Building Somewhere in the New England Region - Possibly Boston ( This Being Where I Purchased The Item ). Classic Gothic Revival Style. One of the Symbols is a Traditional French Style "Fleur de Lis" and the Other is a "Floury" Style Cross. Note! that These 2 Classic Symbols Could Possibly be a Hint - Indicator ? as to the Function of the Structure - Building that they are Associated With. It is Very Age Weathered - Has Heavy Rust Related Surfaces as a Result of Many Years of Exposure to Natures Elements. As a Result it has a Wonderful Authentic Patina Giving it a Look that Could Never be Duplicated in Any Other Way. Also Note! that Both Sides ( Front and Back ) have Aged - Weathered Differently Over the Years Giving it Two Display Side Options. One Side has a Slight Greenish - Verdigris Type Color - Patina. The Other Side has More of a Traditional Heavily Age Weathered & Rusted Cast Iron Color & Patina. Both Side Display Wonderfully!.
The Base has a Chip in the Cast Iron on One End. Also Note that from a Perfect Side View it has a Slight Lean as Displayed ( Can be Best Seen in My Last 2 Photographs ). This is Actually Not Really Noticeable as Displayed Viewing Head On. However This Could be Adjusted - Remedied by Placing a Small Block of Wood Cut to the Right Size and Then Placed Under the Arched Base where it Could be Positioned Out of View.
