Charge of Hussars Republicans is an original Lithograph realized by Denis Auguste Marie Raffet in 1832. Signature on the lower margin, the artwork represents a military troop in a battle. Good condition except for some foxing on the yellowed paper, included a white cardboard passpartout (32.5x48.5 cm). Denis Auguste Marie Raffet (2 March 1804 – 16 February 1860) was a French illustrator and lithographer. He was a student of Nicolas Toussaint Charlet, and was a retrospective painter of the Empire. Raffet's chief works were his lithographs of the Napoleonic campaigns, from Egypt to Waterloo, vigorous designs inspired by ardent patriotic enthusiasm. In this endeavour he was a contemporary of other French artist-lithographers of Napoleon and the French army including Hippolyte Bellangé, Horace Vernet, and Nicolas Toussaint Charlet. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
