This is one of a small grouping … Read more This is a large RARE matted hand-colored botanical chromolithograph that dates to c1880. This is one of a small grouping that we purchased in Paris. It is done by Henry (Henri) Lambert. Lambert created large decorative botanicals that were used as reference for designers, artists and engravers. His work was executed with botanic accuracy and beauty. Lambert also worked in the Sevres porcelain industry where his work on porcelain reflected his influence of flowering botanicals on ceramics. Today his work is auctioned at art galleries throughout the world. This botanical features the bleeding hearts. The chromolithograph is done in a soft palette of pale pink, yellow, and green tones with a light cream tone background. There is a beautiful quality to the work. Note the intricate detail and beautifully designed forms. RARE to find in excellent condition and in large size. Signed in stone by the artist. 11.5 x 18 inches. Comes matted in a neutral tone 18 x 24 inch custom mat ready for a standard size frame. Please allow time for custom matting.
