Chinese porcelain Da Ya Zhai hexagonal dragon brush pot, turquoise glazed lip, interior and inset base, red Da Ya Zhai … Read more Chinese porcelain Da Ya Zhai hexagonal dragon brush pot, turquoise glazed lip, interior and inset base, red Da Ya Zhai three character mark with the red Tian Di Yi Jia Chun medallion below the rim, an imperial yellow glaze on the body with two finely drawn four-clawed sky dragons in finely shaded umber and sepia glazes with gilt highlights amid finely painted white and sepia glazed leafy herbal flowers, including chrysanthemums and peonies, with gold highlights, all in low relief. A fine pattern iron wire craquelure covers all the glazes inside and out. A red and white square four character Yong Qing Chan Chun reign mark is glazed to the inset base. Circa early 20th century, no later than mid century.

5 Chinese herbals: chrysanthemum flower (ju hua), campus flower (ling Xiao hua), celosia flower (ji guan hua), safflower (hong hua), and, the much beloved, rose bud (mei gui hua).

The mark Dayazhai (Studio of the Greater Odes) has been associated with the Dowager Empress Cixi. See less
