This quadruple plated “bride’s basket” from the late 1880’s was manufactured by Pairpoint Manufacturing Company, the oldest glass company still … Read more This quadruple plated “bride’s basket” from the late 1880’s was manufactured by Pairpoint Manufacturing Company, the oldest glass company still in operation in the U.S. Interestingly, these baskets were often carried by brides in the 1800’s during their wedding ceremony. Then, at the reception afterwards, the bridal bouquet would be placed in the basket and displayed on the table. When the couple set up their home, the basket often was used as a centerpiece on their dining table or sideboard. I used it for years on my dining room sideboard, often filled with fruit. See less
