This small solid mahogany and mahogany veneer desk has a cylinder part made of solid mahogany moulded slats, sliding upwards with the help of a brass finger handle in the shape of leaves. The solid mahogany top has a large recessed moulding on the front, the shape of which announces and shapes the cylinder section.
Once opened, this refined little desk reveals a sliding shelf with a mitre-cut frame and oxblood red leather with a cold vignette, a gilded vignette and a central scrolled vignette. The tabernacle is composed of two drawers decorated with knobs and rosettes. In the centre and on each side we find massive fluted wooden elements, topped by a large storage compartment.
This desk has a key-operated drawer in the waistband with its original lock in working order and its bronze entrance. At the corners, above the legs, there are three flutes on the front and sides.
The set rests on four solid mahogany sheath legs underlined at the top by a moulded brass square and ending with brass shoes.
This small Restoration period desk will delight you with its ideal dimensions, the beauty of its wood, its ingenuity and its magnificent leather.
