Lovely Walnut veneer travel writing case, embellished on the top with concave brass corners and a recessed plate with the … Read more Lovely Walnut veneer travel writing case, embellished on the top with concave brass corners and a recessed plate with the initials "G.E.C". The working lock and key, both original, have the same cut-out entrance as the cover plate. Brass reinforcements at the corners highlight the lower part. When open and in use, this writing case has a sloping top covered in dark green leather with a gold vignette, a cold vignette and corners: its surround is also in Walnut. The upper part of the interior is made up of pigeonholes, with a curved and removable part in the centre for storing pencils. In the lower area, two locking systems allow the storage space under the sloping surface to be opened. Note that a second identical cover is present in the upper part, these two compartments being made of mahogany veneer.
A collector's item and a decorative object, this travel writing case will delight lovers of historical items, and we will enjoy imagining the correspondences of which it was the witness and the privileged accessory.
