Letter U is an original black and white lithograph on heavy paper, realized by the Spanish poet Rafael Alberti (Puerto de Santa María,1902 – 1999) in 1972. From "Il Lirismo dell'Alfabeto". Our plate representing the letter Q of the ”lyric alphabet”, is hand-signed and dated in pencil on lower right margin. In excellent condition, this is a precious artist proof, numbered in Roman numerals and pencil on lower left margin. From an edition of 99 prints, numbered in Arabic numerals, plus 20 artist's proofs in Roman numerals. Rafael Alberti (Puerto de Santa María, 1902 – 1999) Rafael Alberti was a Spanish poet, symbol of poetry focused on political and civic commitment. For this reason, he was forced to spend most of his life in exile. Worthy of mention are his memories La arboleda perdida. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
