moreAsian Themed antique drypoint hand-colored etching by Elyse Ash Lord showcasing a gracefully seated dancer admits a field of colorful flowers. The artwork is signed by the artist in pencil on the right bottom corner.
This appears to be an artist proof as it is without an edition number which is usually found on the left across from the artist signature. Research reveals that Elyse Lord would personally supervise the printing of her plates, keeping the first ten proof impressions for herself.
This is a hand-colored painting in its original JJ. Gillespie Co, Pittsburg wooden frame with a silk fabric mat.
The print has not been examined outside of the frame, it appears to be in very good condition.
Dimensions of the image are 9.75” x 13.25” with the mat cut out measuring 10.25” x 14”.
The wooden frame shows scuff marks and loss of paint within the gilded and black lacquered portion as shown.
The reverse side of the frame still features the original blue JJ Gillespie Company, 306 Seventh Avenue, Pittsburgh sticker. less
