Vintage Edward Marshall Boehm footed porcelain vase in ivory with light blue reeded detail and gold foot. Marked with the studio mark and '700-06'.
Mr. Boehm (pronounced 'Beam') was an American figurative expressionist porcelain sculptor known for his figures of birds and other wildlife. He founded his studio in 1950 and shortly after was commissioned to make two statues for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. After his passing (1969) he was accorded his highest honor in 1992 when a wing of the Vatican Museums in Rome was named in his memory - the first time in its 500-year history that one of the 13 museums in the Vatican was named for an American citizen.
