French Empire Paris porcelain plate or low bowl in the Egyptian Revival taste. Decorated with a central reserve of Pharaoh surrounded by bands of hieroglyphs enhanced by rich gilding. This decorative scheme with black on a white ground is reminiscent of the work of 20th century Italian designer Piero Fornasetti. Measures 7 3/8" diameter x 1 1/2" deep. Good condition.
