I'm an interior designer who grew up with an antique-loving mother. She searched high and low for a set of chairs in the 1970's, and I'm now selling them individually. The antique shop she bought these from listed them as C. 1810. From the bit of research I've done I believe this is American, Elm and/or Yew wood, and has not been modified, but I'm not positive about those exact details. * Note: the seat height is not exact because the seat is shaped, so the height varies by about 1/2" depending on whether you measure at the front edge vs. the sides. The seat width is 13” at back and 19” at front. See less

The cracks in the wood have been there for the 45 years we've owned it and it's been sturdy all the while with almost daily usage. less
