Mid-Century bamboo thermos by Aldo Tura for Macabo. This wonderful serving piece was produced in Cusano Milanino, Milan, Italy in the 1950s. This article will allow you to serve your guests in an elegant and original way is perfect for a mid-century living room or a modern dining room. Born in 1909, the Italian designer-maker Aldo Tura founded his furniture production house in Lombardy in 1939. Working between the idioms of Art Deco and Modernism, Tura has created unique and high-end furniture and accessories characterized by fine, sculptural forms, and high-end craft techniques. Tura's work has become highly collectible, particularly examples with exotic finishes - such as eggshell, goatskin and parchment - in intense palettes of red, green and yellow. Tura was one of the most unique Italian mid-century design talents. In the postwar years, as many furniture manufacturers were adapting their production methods to mass production, Tura remained engaged in slow, traditional craftsmanship. He favored intricate, complex shapes and labor-intensive processes that could never be replicated in a large-scale factory system. As a result, the number of Tura's works available on the vintage market remains limited. Today, Tura’s company continues to produce high-end, deco-esque furniture in Lombardy, but much information about Tura himself has been lost to history. The Brooklyn Museum in New York owns a handful of Tura designs that were originally exhibited in the 1950-1953 travelling exhibition Italy at Work: Her Renaissance in Design Today. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
