The faces are finely modeled, with whispy painted goatees, each wearing a tall hat. Figures such as these were benevolent presences, who watched over the tombs of the well-to-do in the 18th century and earlier. Good antique condition with attractive distressed surfaces, heavy wear in places, chips and losses along with other irregularities, as made. Heads are removable, as is typical in figures of this type, and they can be easily repositioned- careful not to let them fall!
