Crafted in southern France circa 1920, the oval ceiling fixture is constructed of carved wood and decorated with traditional floral and foliate motifs throughout.

The scalloped frame features a continuous gallery of turned baluster spindles, embellished with carved acanthus leaves, scrolling details, and floral accents. Four gracefully curved double arms extend from the perimeter, supporting eight electric lights fitted with decorative candle sleeves and metal drip pans. The chandelier is suspended by four chains connected to a carved and turned wooden canopy with a central finial.

The original hand-painted finish combines soft cream, pale green, and ochre tones, with natural distressing and worn edges revealing a rich, timeworn patina. The unusual oval shape and open balustrade design give the fixture a distinctive architectural presence, reminiscent of traditional Provençal furniture.

The antique chandelier is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. With its warm colors and rustic character, it would make a wonderful addition over a dining table, kitchen island, or in a country house entryway.
