Antique Round Bowl Vase Pottery from c.1875-1912 according to stamp on bottom and a number written by possibly paint.
Black surface appears hand painted with motif showing 2 ancient greek figures fishing in a fishing vessel with a woman nearby and a stork and a fish. This motif epeats 4 times Each repeat is slightly different.

In 1874 John Tams bought the Crown pottery, on the corner of Commerce Street and High Street. At first he specialised in the manufacture of imperial measured ware, mugs, jugs, etc., for hotels and public houses. The increasing use of glass and further government regulations forced him to develop new lines of production, including ornamental and general earthenware.
