We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects.
Interesting and particular pair of French vases; they were made between 1970 and 1975 in porcelain stoneware (gres) in a workshop near Saint-Vallier-sur-Rhode, a French town located in the department of Drôme in the region of Auvergne-Rhone-Alps, an area famous for the production of stoneware since the early nineteenth century, where there is still one of the most important stoneware factories in France (Novoceram); The two vases have different shapes but both are very original and refined; they have been worked by hand, using clay, metal oxides, dyes and fluxes combined with silica sands, everything has been fired at high temperature (about 1200 °) obtaining the characteristic vitrified effect, the whole process has been personally supervised by the creators who have followed the various stages of processing, from design to the final product, thus ensuring the quality of craftsmanship. Porcelain stoneware (gres) is one of the most valuable ceramics that gives the best qualitative guarantees of durability, strength, and aesthetic possibilities; its processing is not simple: it is a material that during firing is subject to a contraction in the volume of 13%, it vitrifies and if the art forms have not been studied to perfection they do not pass the "test" of the kiln firing at 1200 degrees. But when this happens, the craftsman knows he has created something special and that someone will appreciate it and recognize its value. The artisans, creators of the two vases, with heart, mind, and hands, through water, earth, and fire, have freed the most intimate essence of the material, stripping the forms of the superfluous and seeking the highest quality in every detail. The vases on the bottom show, engraved by hand, strange and illegible graffiti, certainly initials and numbers known only to those who have made them. Measures vase wavy edge diameter 14 cm, height 30 cm, measures vase round edge diameter 13 cm, height 30 cm. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
