The large art pottery … Read more A tall and colorful English Royal Doulton Flambe vase signed by Frederick Moore, circa 1920s-early 1930s. The large art pottery vase from the Art Deco period is decorated with a glossy flambé glaze of mottled reds in combination with gold and mustard yellow with darker and lighter shades of olive green. The earthenware vase bears a printed factory crown and lion flambé mark alongside Fred Moore's hand-painted "FM" cipher. The number 632 is also faintly impressed on the base. Very good undamaged condition, free of chips, cracks or repair, measuring 10.88 in. height.

Doulton's chief designer, Charles Noke, and his team used metallic oxides and reduction glazes to develop the artistic Flambe, Chang, and Sung ware lines, creating unique combinations of pattern and color for every object. See less
