Printed by Officine Ricordi, Milan, this advertising poster for the Italian newspaper ''La Tribuna'', is monogrammed and signed on plate on lower left margin and is very well inked. This modern artwork has the inscriptions printed on lower margin, under the image: ''G. Mataloni/ Off. G. Ricordi and C. Milano / 140 x 220''. In excellent conditions, except for a little rip of the paper on the lower right corner and a missing lower right corner. These defects do not affect the image. This original print shows the vintage Art Nouveau taste and the incredible Mataloni's draftsmanship and his full mastery of the artistic medium, has the dignity of an object of art to collect in your fashionable and sophisticated home furniture. Giovanni Maria Mataloni (Rome, 1869 - 1944) We know little about the life of the Italian publicist and illustrator, even on his name there are discrepancies: some sources report Giovanni Mario Mataloni, others Giovanni Maria Mataloni. We certainly know that the paternal family owned several paper mills in the area of Pioraco, in the province of Macerata. Mataloni is an exponent of Liberty, who together with Leonetto Cappiello, Adolf Hohenstein, Leopoldo Metlicovitz and Marcello Dudovich is considered one of the fathers of modern Italian poster art. His first manifesto is dated 1891. He has collaborated with Ricordi, De Agostini, the editions of Dr. Chappuis of Bologna, the publisher Bocca di Torino, L'Illustrazione Italiana and the Cromolitographic Establishment Alessandro Marzi in Rome. He held the chair of nude at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and among his students was Umberto Boccioni. This artwork is shipped from Italy.
