The artwork consists of four sheets numbered on the back; the sheets represent the artist's proofs for the cover of the book ''Lacrimella'', a fairy tale for children published in the book series ''La Rosa D'Oro'' between the 1930s and the 1940s. The tale was republished in the 1950s. The first sheet is hand-signed by the artist on the lower right margin. The second and the third sheets are the artist's proofs for the cover of the book. The last sheet is the proof for the back cover of the book and presents a piece of paper attached with the title of the book. The sheets are in good conditions; the colors are characterized by great brightness and freshness. Italo Orsi (Lucca, 1889 – Lucca, 1947) was an Italian illustrator, caricaturist and poster designer. He produced more than one-thousand posters; most of his artworks were produced for J. Baker and for the Grand Guinol. At the beginning of his career, he lived in Lucca, where he produced irreverent caricatures for many prominent characters of the city. His illustrations are signed simply “ORSI” in capital letters. His first artworks date back to the 1910s. Among his most famous illustrations, there are the illustrated fairy tales for children that belong to the “Rosa D’Oro” series, republished in subsequent editions in the 1950s. Among the illustrators of the series, worthy of mention are the illustrator and cartoonist Ferdinando Corbella and the illustrator Giacinto Galbiati. This artwork is shipped from Italy.
