Very good condition overall, with the customary vertical fold at the center and some light foxing on margins. From one of the most important series of etchings by g.b. Piranesi, ”views of rome drawn and etched by gianbattista piranesi, venetian architect” (1753) this wonderful specimen with a fresh impression, representing a facade of montecitorio in rome. Artwork with wide margins and a detailed capture (on plate) pointing out the antique monuments and buildings. Antique roman edition. Background: in 1740 giovanni battista piranesi arrived in rome for the first time and he was astonished by the eternal city’s beauty. He served an apprenticeship before with the valeriani’s workshop, and after with giuseppe vasi’s one. The sicilian engraver and vedutist teached him the etching technique, conveying his graphic art’s passion to the venetian old master. This artwork is shipped from italy.
