Lambert was a pupil of Eugène Delacroix, who financed his studies, and of Paul Delaroche, and became an eminent member of the ''Société des Aquarellistes Français'' in 1879. His paintings and drawing representing dogs and cats are included in the collections of some of the most important Museums at international level such as British Museum, Stedelijk Museum, Cincinnati Art Museum, Musés du Luxembourg, Brooklyn Museum among others.
