Magnificent girasol bottle attributable to vetreria m.v.m cappellin of murano. This bottle that i bought from a lady wife of a murano master can be dated back to the 30s and corresponds, as indicated by the owner, to the bottiliglai article #1281 of the catalog of m.v.m. Year 1929-31. Girasol is the name of the color: it was a color that was made with bone ash because it contains phosphorus and for this reason, it was also called "phosphorous opaline". Later in the 20th century, this original coloring was caused by the presence in the vitrifying mixture of lead arsenic crystals from which derives the particularity of changing tonality: with transmitted light, the radiations transmitted by the sun have a wavelength that exceeds the arsenic particles (a mineral once used in the production of glass) and therefore you can see yellow. Instead, with reflected light, the arsenic particles reflect a bluish light as you can see in the photos of the vase in the shade. this piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
