Manufactured by Hamilton in the United States, these substantial storage cabinets feature 20 shallow drawers, richly grained oak fronts, original-style wooden cup pulls, and paneled oak sides.

Originally designed for the flat storage of architectural drawings, blueprints, maps, prints, and works on paper, these particular cabinets were used by an artist to store paintings. The shallow drawers have finger-access openings in their bottoms to facilitate lifting stored papers and artwork.

Each of the four independent stacking sections contains five drawers and measures approximately 14.5 inches high. Together, the cabinets measure 41 inches wide, 27.25 inches deep, and 58 inches high. All 20 drawers open.

The warm oak finish, pronounced wood grain, paneled construction, and rows of wooden pulls give these cabinets the character associated with early 20th-century American industrial and institutional furnishings.

Suitable for an artist's studio, architect's office, design library, print collection, or specialized storage, the cabinets offer considerable capacity while preserving the contents in individual shallow drawers.

The four sections are offered together as one set. There is no finished top included. The cabinets retain visible wear and finish variations consistent with their age and working history.

JUNE'S THOUGHTS
What I appreciate about these old Hamilton cabinets is how many different purposes they can serve. Originally designed for storing large sheets of paper, they are just as useful today for artists, architects, surveyors, and collectors who need to keep things organized and protected.

I especially like them for collectors of smaller items—photographs, prints, textiles, ephemera, and other treasures that deserve their own storage space.

I've also seen creative dealers repurpose individual flat-file sections as coffee tables, adding casters and a glass top. The shallow upper drawer can become a wonderful place to display a collection of small treasures while keeping everything neatly contained. With four separate sections and 20 drawers, there are quite a few possibilities here. I would love to see these go to someone who appreciates both their history and their usefulness.
