Pair of napoleon iii style armchairs, reupholstered in burgundy red velvet, with a characteristic "toad" style spoon-shaped back.
the rounded back, slightly inclined backward, has an organic curve typical of the second empire's ornamental taste. The base of each seat is trimmed with a twisted fringe of matching passementerie, secured under cord braid, completely concealing the legs. The reupholstering, clearly recent, is executed with care: no signs of wear were observed on the velvet or the fringe. The two pieces form a symmetrical and harmonious pair. Seat height: 35 cm. Individual dimensions: h. 73 cm × w. 65 cm × d. 45 cm. Total weight of the pair: 30 kg.
