The gilded horizontal band displays raised figures, musicians, and stylized foliage against a textured ground, creating a rich contrast with the polished deep purple body. The form features wide vertical faceting around the lower section and upper rim, which flares outward gently from the banded centre towards a circular mouth. Crafted in rich amethyst pressed glass, the vessel transitions from deep, near-opaque violet along the thick solid foot to a warm, translucent plum hue when caught in direct daylight. The internal chamber reflects the geometric contours of the external facets, casting stepped reflections down through the base. The underside of the foot is moulded with the cursive ""Walther"" factory mark beneath a crowned cartouche, accompanied by the patent abbreviation ""D.R.P. ang."" for Deutsches Reichspatent angemeldet. This signifies production by August Walther & Söhne in Saxony during the 1930s, when the glassworks patented numerous specialised decorative mouldings and gilded finishes. Standing 16.3 cm tall with a diameter of 12.2 cm across the rim and waist, this freestanding vase offers sturdy proportions suitable for tabletop or mantel display. It presents in sound vintage condition, displaying light shelf wear and faint scratching to the base ring consistent with domestic use, while the moulded relief and gilding remain crisp. See less
