The model features deeply sculpted plumage flowing backward along the neck, set against a pointed beak, circular eye and pendulous wattle. It terminates in a thick, moulded circular collar base originally conceived to fit into an automotive radiator mount. The surface treatment balances extensive acid-etched frosted crystal against crisp, polished highlights. While the feathers and facial contours carry a dense satin finish that diffuses ambient light, the towering comb, beak tip and wattle rim remain clear and glossy, producing defined optical contrast across the profile. This piece derives from the famous car mascot design introduced in 1928 under model number 1137. Although initially made in pressed glass during the interwar era to adorn luxury motor cars, post-war and modern crystal editions were primarily intended as freestanding decorative sculptures, desk weights and cabinet pieces. Standing 18 cm high, the sculpture bears the engraved script signature 'Lalique ® France' along the lower edge of the circular foot. The inclusion of the registered trademark circle indicates production from the late 20th century. The glass remains structurally sound and retains a clean, well-preserved surface. See less
