Rising from a thick, solid base, the vessel features straight polished sides decorated with multi-point stars and sweeping curved cuts that catch the light from all angles. A high-domed crystal cover fits flush against the plain polished rim, continuing the intricate cutting across its convex surface. The lid is crowned with a solid, spherical finial, hand-cut with fluted facets and an apex rosette to provide a firm and balanced grip when lifting. Substantial in scale, the lidded vessel stands 26 cm tall to the top of the finial and measures 20 cm in diameter across the rim, weighing almost 5 kilograms. The underside of the base is wheel-cut with a crisp multi-point starburst, and four small protective adhesive pads have been applied underneath to safeguard polished tabletop surfaces. Typical of mid- to late 20th-century Bohemian lead crystal craftsmanship, the deeply incised geometric facets and starbursts maximise light refraction, producing brilliant sparkle and spectral fire in ambient light. The notable thickness of the walls gives the piece exceptional clarity and weight. Designed as a grand tabletop centerpiece, this lidded container functions equally well as a punch bowl, bonbonnière, or covered biscuit jar for formal dining and display. See less
