Each piece centres on a vibrant emerald-green core submerged within an intermediate layer of warm amber-yellow, all encased inside thick clear glass. The precision cold-work facet grinding creates multiple internal reflections and distinct optical colour shifts as the viewing angle changes. The garniture comprises a tall, tapered faceted vase measuring 26 cm in height and a coordinating low-profile geode bowl measuring 16 cm in width and 9 cm in height. Under ultraviolet light, the green glass core displays an intense fluorescent green glow indicative of uranium or similar reactive glass additives, contrasting with the warm golden hues visible under regular daylight. Hand-blown and wheel-cut in Venice, Italy, these pieces date probably from the 1960s or 1970s. Both the vase and the bowl retain their original scalloped red and gold paper foil labels, printed with 'Murano MADE IN ITALY'. While unsigned with an engraved workshop signature, this specific style of multi-faceted sommerso glass is closely associated with Muranese workshops of the mid-century era, such as Flavio Poli and Alessandro Mandruzzato. Both items rest on flat ground bases that have been fitted with small circular felt cushions to safeguard polished display surfaces.
