The glass displays a subtle gradation of shade, deepening to a rich caramel brown through the solid base and foot where the gather is thickest, while lightening to a delicate tint through the walls of the main chamber. The elongated urn-shaped body is complemented by a matching high domed lid that rests snugly over the rim. At the apex sits an applied clear glass finial enclosing a cluster of controlled air bubbles, providing an attractive textural and tonal contrast to the smooth amber glass beneath. While unmarked, the distinctive combination of coloured blown glass, apothecary-inspired profile, and decorative bullicante finial strongly reflects the mid-century production of Tuscany, particularly the Empoli region, dating to around the 1960s or 1970s. During this era, Italian factories produced a wide variety of coloured decorative storage jars, carafes, and ornamental glassware for the domestic and export markets. The piece stands approximately 35 cm high including the lid, with a diameter of roughly 15 cm across the widest point. It serves equally well as a functional confectionery or bonbon container, or as an eye-catching decorative glass accent when lit on a shelf or sideboard. Condition is sound overall. There is some chipping along the inner locating flange of the lid and a tiny flea-bite to the jar rim, neither of which affects the stability or display quality when the lid is in place. The base shows only expected light surface shelf wear consistent with age. See less
