Its distinctive combination of richly grained walnut and contrasting birch dowels creates a striking interplay of color, texture, and form. As a bench or coffee table, this versatile design embodies the effortless elegance that has made Baughman's furniture so sought after.

The elongated walnut frame features beautifully sculpted edges, clean geometric lines, and gracefully tapered legs that give the piece a light, almost floating appearance. Slender birch dowels extend across the surface in a rhythmic arrangement, introducing warmth and visual interest while showcasing the thoughtful precision of its construction. The contrasting woods create a distinctive design that feels both sculptural and remarkably functional, with an open design that allows the craftsmanship to take center stage.

Milo Baughman remains one of the most influential American furniture designers of the 20th century, admired for his ability to balance modern aesthetics with everyday functionality. His collaborations with Glenn of California helped define California modernism's approachable character. This bench beautifully reflects that legacy, offering the thoughtful design, material richness, and versatility that keep authentic mid-century furniture desirable more than six decades later.
