This vintage Taxco Los Castillo Mexican Modernist lidded sugar bowl features an iconic sculptural Toucan figure handle. Crafted in the mid-century Taxco metalworking tradition, it showcases hand-fitted crushed Lapis Lazuli / Sodalite mosaic stone inlay along the lid top and the stylized toucan figure.
The silver-plated base is designed with lobed, scalloped detailing, reflecting the celebrated mixed-metal folk art aesthetic of 1960s Taxco craftsmanship. Functional as a lidded sugar bowl, jam pot, or decorative vanity trinket box.
Condition: Good Vintage Condition.
Details: The silverplate exterior exhibits authentic age-appropriate tarnish and patina. There is noticeable silverplate thinning/rub-through on the lower scalloped base, exposing two small distinct spots of the underlying warm brass. The lapis/sodalite mosaic stone inlay remains 100% intact and securely set.
