Blooms in coral, apricot and lavender open among star-shaped flowers in orange-red, with leaves in cobalt, teal, chartreuse and white, each color held in its own cell by fine wire. Gilded bands circle the rim, the neck and the foot, and a border of lappets in navy and blue marks the shoulder. Inside and underneath, the enamel is a deeper turquoise, with a stamped seal panel on the base. This vintage Chinese cloisonné vase carries a tangled lotus pattern, a classic of Chinese enamelware that stands for purity and endless growth.

At 15 inches tall with a 10 inch body, it holds branches, dried grasses or tall stems with a 5 inch opening, and it works just as well empty on a console, a sideboard or an entry table. The turquoise ground cools a room of warm wood and brings a strong accent to neutral walls.
