Set of 10 Regency Chamberlain’s Worcester Hand-Painted Imari-Style Porcelain Plates, Circa 1815-1820
Description:
Ten English porcelain plates by Chamberlain’s Worcester, made in the Regency period. Each is hand painted in an Imari-inspired pattern of iron-red peonies and cobalt blue leaves, with a daisy and a blue ribbon tie in the center. Sprays of matching blossoms with gilt highlights run around the border. The decoration is applied freehand, so each plate varies slightly.
Seven plates carry the red script mark under a crown reading “Chamberlains Regent China Worcester & 155 New Bond Street London,” the name of the firm’s London showroom. Three plates are unmarked but match the others in pattern, body, and size. At 10" across, they suit a dinner setting, a plate wall, or display on a sideboard or in a china cabinet. A set this large is hard to find in matching condition.
