***The Intersection of Tole and Porcelain***
Porcelain Flowers: In higher-end or specialty tole fixtures (such as 19th-century Louis XVI style, Saxe, or Sèvres pieces), the floral elements—like roses, tulips, and buds—are sculpted out of delicate hand-painted porcelain or ceramic rather than stamped metal.
Combined Materials: A typical antique tole-and-porcelain piece features a painted metal or gilt-brass cage, vine, or arm structure (tole) interwoven with glazed or bisque porcelain flowers, sometimes mounted on marble or ormolu bases.
Collectibility: Fixtures combining tole metalwork with fine porcelain accents (like vintage Italian or French chandeliers) generally command higher values depending on the intactness of the fragile porcelain petals See less
